MOVING FORWARD AGENCY
The Moving Forward Agency – MFA, as the primary service provider for Learn to Earn, Inc., has sought funding and resources to address the needs of specialized populations, including social services recipients, re-entry individuals and community residents with multiple barriers to employment and limited access to resources to meet self-sufficiency.
CITY OF PETERBURG LIBRARY SYSTEM
Learn to Earn, Inc. programs and services are being offered at the City of Petersburg Public Library in partnership with the City of Petersburg Library System and Foundation. Services provided:
- Recruitment & Outreach
- Group Orientations
- Work Readiness Training Meetings
- Use of the Computer Lab
- Partnership Meetings
From July-September 2017, Three (3) one-week Work Ready Training Sessions and Weekly Outreach and Recruitment took place at the Petersburg Library.
CRATER WORKFORCE CENTER
Partnership of integrated services focusing on workforce development. Mandated partners: WIOA, DARS, SPACE, VEC, MFA.
- 175 people received at least one workforce related service through the One Stop Center
- 55 completed Orientation and Initial Intake Assessment
DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES
MFA staff provide outreach and recruitment to DSS recipients on-site in Hopewell, Petersburg and Chesterfield. Services include registration, career counseling and resource management.
On September 21, 2017, the MFA staff along with Petersburg DSS staff sponsored a job fair at First Baptist Church-Harrison Street. The job fair focused on healthcare industries but also provided numerous employer vendors and resource information to participants.
PETERSBURG CITY AND SCHOOLS PARTNERSHIP
Governor McAuliffe provided comments at the Petersburg City & Schools Partnership event held at Petersburg High School on September 11, 2017. This partnership group was created to focus on increasing successful educational outcomes for students while providing supportive services to parents and families. Partners include: City of Petersburg, Public Schools, Public Library system, Public Health Department, Department of Social Services and other community and faith-based organizations.
