Youth Services

The Crater Regional Youth Council is a special interest council consisting of experts in youth policies and representatives of youth services agencies including juvenile justice, local law enforcement agencies, local public housing authorities and eligible parents of youths seeking assistance. The Council develops the youth portion of the strategic plan for the Crater Region–the cities of Colonial Heights, Emporia, Hopewell and Petersburg and the counties of southern Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Greensville, Prince George, Sussex and Surry.

The Council advises the Crater Regional Workforce Investment Board (WIB) about youth concerns, makes recommendations concerning strategies, programs, and youth service providers, and is responsible for monitoring the use of youth funds under the federal Workforce Investment Act.
